Sustainability Undergraduate Research Experience: Lithium Mining in Chile

This past semester, I participated in undergraduate research with the School of Sustainability's SURE program. I highly recommend this program to students in SOS, especially those who plan on attending graduate school.

I worked under the supervision of Dr. Datu Agusdinata and Wenjuan Liu and with my colleague Joshua Verdugo to helping to examine the socio-economic impacts caused by environmental degradation from lithium mining activity in Salar de Atacama, Chile, as well as the perception and demands of tourists.

I also participated in the Sustainability Research Design & Practice course taught by Dr. Chuck Redman to qualify as a Research Fellow.

For more details of my research process, I invite you to take a look at my interview conducted by my friend and colleague William Walker for Sustainability Connect: Meet sustainability student and SURE researcher Tahiry Langrand.
